what is the difference between 14k gold-filled and gold plated or sterling silver and silver plated?
- 14K gold-filled is 1/20th of 14 karat gold bonded with heat and pressure to base metal such as brass.
- Gold plated is a fine layer of gold coated to the outside of a metal base.
- Sterling silver is alloy of silver which content 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals.
- Silver- filled is 1/40th of 92.5% sterling silver bonded to the outside of a core of metal alloy base.
- Silver plated is a fine layer of silver coated to the outside of a metal base.
- Gold plated is a fine layer of gold coated to the outside of a metal base.
